DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION COMPANY - UK
OD2 On Demand Distribution, the European digital distribution company created by Peter Gabriel and Charles Grimsdale, was established with the goal to become the leading content provider for the expanding digital Microsoft Windows based download platforms. The company went on to become the content provider for several major websites including the Coca-Cola sponsored mycoke.com and MSN Music service to name a few. In June of 2004 the company was sold to US digital distributor Loudeye Corp. that went on to be taken over in October 2006 by Finland based telecom giant Nokia (press release). ARTIST - ITALY
Vittorio Grigolo, Italian young tenor with an already long standing Opera career, releases a Polydor/Universal debut album in 2006 engaging the Pop Opera market segment which had been successfully established in previous years by Artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Alessandro Safina. In The Hands Of Love makes a remarkable #6 entry in the UK charts and rapidly achieves sales in excess of 250,000 units granting Vittorio a platinum debut. During the course of 2006 the album, renamed to Vittorio, makes its Unversal/Decca debut in Australia and the United States where it is also well received. During the same year, Vittorio records a PBS Television Special from the settinga of the ancient Imperial Villa Adriana in Tivoli. Marquis Classics, Toronto based classic & crossover label established in 1981, Marquis is one of Canada's leading independent record labels. It is owned by founder Earl Rosen and Dinah Hoyle. Many of therecordings are produced in Canada. Marquis Classics is distributed in Canada by EMI Music with several titles are also available in the USA, Europe and Asia. DIGITAL MUSIC COMPANY - AUSTRIA
Sony Net Services, a division of Sony Corporation, based in Salzburg Austria. The division was set up to provide music content for mobile phone carriers and launched the Stream Man service with Vodafone in UK, Germany, France and Italy.
